Parliament Week

This week we have celebrated Parliament Week, giving students the chance to learn more about democracy and the role of Parliament.  Throughout the week, students took part in a range of activities, including:

  • Voting for this term’s school charity.
  • A Parliament Quiz, testing knowledge of how government works and the role of MPs.
  • Library Display, featuring resources and information to help students explore the history and importance of Parliament.

We welcomed MP Maya Ellis to our school. During her visit, Maya toured the school and met with members of our Student Council, Head Boy and Head Girl, and Senior Prefects.

The Student Council also took the opportunity to confirm their vote on this year’s charity, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact. Maya took part in a  Q&A session with the pupils in which they asked questions such as:

  • “How do you get into politics?”
  • “How can we, as students on the School Council, have an impact on Parliament?”

Maya shared valuable insights into the role of young people in shaping the future and encouraged students to 'Get Involved'. Her visit was an inspiring reminder of the importance of student voice and active participation in democracy.
