Friday 6 February 2026 Preston Schools' Indoor Athletics Championships - Year 8 On Friday, 6th February, it was the Year 8's turn to compete in the Indoor Athletics Championships. Once again, ten schools from across the Preston district competed in a range of Sprinting, jumping, bounding and throwing events to see who were the best boys’ and girls’ teams. The girls performed really consistently throughout the morning and had some strong competition from both Archbishop and Our Lady's. However, our girls held their own and fought well in all their track events. Eventually, the girls’ team did amazing and finished in 2nd place just behind Archbishop. The boys’ team again faced some tough opposition, with numerous schools winning races on the track, including Fulwood, Corpus, Ashton and Our Lady’s. However, another consistent performance saw the Broughton boys’ team ahead at the halfway stage. They managed to hold on to this position in the field events and WON the overall competition.

They even captured fantastic photographs of the flag both at Rothera Research Station and aboard a Twin Otter aircraft, the small research plane that transports scientists to their remote field sites.

They endured mud and an icy wind to run with determination.

Thursday 29 January 2026 Lancashire Cup - U14 Girls’ Football On Wednesday, 28th January, the U14 girls’ football team were finally back in action in the Lancashire Cup against St Michael’s. Broughton played some excellent football and were unfortunate to go down 1-0 against the run of play. St Michael’s doubled their lead quickly from an excellent long range shot, but Broughton responded with a goal from a lovely passage of play resulting in a good finish from Mia McLennan. Broughton were very much still in the game, playing the better football of the two teams, but struggled to take their chances. Just before the final whistle, St Michael’s scored again to make it 3-1 and knock Broughton out of the Lancashire Cup. An unfortunate result but well done to all the girls involved.
