Preston Schools' Indoor Athletics Championships - Year 8
On Friday, 6th February, it was the Year 8's turn to compete in the Indoor Athletics Championships. Once again, ten schools from across the Preston district competed in a range of Sprinting, jumping, bounding and throwing events to see who were the best boys’ and girls’ teams. The girls performed really consistently throughout the morning and had some strong competition from both Archbishop and Our Lady's. However, our girls held their own and fought well in all their track events. Eventually, the girls’ team did amazing and finished in 2nd place just behind Archbishop. The boys’ team again faced some tough opposition, with numerous schools winning races on the track, including Fulwood, Corpus, Ashton and Our Lady’s. However, another consistent performance saw the Broughton boys’ team ahead at the halfway stage. They managed to hold on to this position in the field events and WON the overall competition. The Year 8 boys’ team along with the Year 7 boys’ and girls’ teams now all go forward as the Preston Winners to represent the District at the Lancashire Finals. Congratulations!
