"Pupils are provided with the opportunities that they need to satisfy their thirst for reading. Pupils get to read academic texts and journals throughout the day in their subject classes. Pupils also take opportunities to read regularly at other times, including in the school library. Pupils especially enjoy reading fiction books at these times."

Visiting the library is one of the many ways pupils can get involved in school life.  With a fantastic selection of up to date, diverse and wide-ranging fiction/non-fiction on the shelves alongside lots of activities, clubs, quizzes and competitions to take part in, we aim to provide a supportive learning environment to help encourage an enquiring mind and a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

To help widen reading horizons, we have a rolling programme of relevant displays and, in addition to lesson times, we are open at break, lunch times and after school.  Classes in KS3 also have scheduled reading time built into the curriculum which includes visits to the library during which pupils have the opportunity to browse and select titles with the help of our full-time librarian and take part in a range of reading activities.

Our library also facilitates a range of initiatives, from the Summer Reading Challenge to Paired Reading and lots more.
