Year 9 Rounders
On Tuesday 9th June, the girls’ Year 9 rounders team played against Archbishop Temple at home. We managed to get through the first innings in light rain, then mid-way through the seconds innings the heavens opened, bringing hailstone and torrential rain! The match was abandoned, but Broughton took the win after winning the first innings and leading the second innings.

Year 10 Rounders Winners!
On Wednesday, the Year 10 rounders team played in the annual Preston district rounders tournament at Archbishop Temple. The team progressed out of the group stage as group leaders, beating Corpus and Fulwood convincingly. They then played Longridge in the semi-finals, which was a closer game as they had some excellent batters. However, some outstanding fielding from Broughton, and notably three excellent catches from Emily Bradley, limited their score and Broughton went on to win the game. In the final, Broughton faced Our Lady's, in what we know is always an extremely competitive game. Broughton won the toss and opted to field first and produced a truly excellent fielding performance. Our Lady's only managed to score 1 rounder off 20 good balls, so the game was there for Broughton to take. Ellie O'Neill opened the scoring with a half rounder off the first ball, followed by a rounder on ball 3 from Kara Giddins. Broughton could now relax and went on to win the game 5-1 and be crowned Preston champions in their final year of school rounders. A huge well done to all the team; they have turned up to practice every week which has been a key part of their success, and they should be very proud of their effort, commitment and teamwork.
