U14 English Schools Basketball
Just over a week ago, the recently crowned Lancashire Champions U14 basketball team headed over to Manchester to take on Wright Robinson college in their first ever English Schools game. The team knew they would be in for a tough game, with the opposition likely to be the strongest that they have faced so far this year. A slow start from Broughton saw Wright Robinson claim an early advantage after the first quarter, and the team knew there was work to be done. A fantastic second quarter saw the team pull the score back, trailing by only 3 points at the half-way mark. Just like the first, it was a slow start to the third that really put a dent in the score line in favour of the opposition, and with only one quarter left, the team trailed by a significant amount. A fantastic display in the last quarter, with everyone contributing saw the team outscore their opposition heavily. Unfortunately, time was against them and the game finished 67-53 to Wright Robinson. A close game that on another day could have gone either way. Well done to all involved, even getting to this stage is a fantastic achievement in itself.
