U14 Girls' Football - 22.10.25

On Wednesday, 22nd October, the girls’ U14 football team were back in action in the Preston A league. Having suffered a narrow defeat to Archbishop Temple in the last league game, Broughton were hoping to get some points on the board. Broughton played Ashton first, and some lovely work from Mia McLennan set up Claire Nunn who produced a lovely first touch finish. Broughton continued to dominate, and further goals came from Darcey Skelton (2) and Megan Pye to secure a scoreline of 4-0 to Broughton.

Broughton played Our Lady's next, and from the whistle Broughton looked lively. A lovely team move culminated in Megan Pye putting Broughton 1-0 up. Towards the end of the half, Daisy Wilson produced an excellent save low down to her right, but a few minutes later a loose ball that wasn't dealt with was pounced on by the Our Lady's striker to level up the game. Broughton dominated the second half and created lots of opportunities, and it felt like a second goal was imminent. However, Our Lady's defended well and managed to see the game out to draw 1-1.

Two excellent team performances from Broughton, who have finished 2nd in the league overall. The U14s will be back in action after half term in the next round of the Lancashire Cup. Well done to all the girls involved.
