Achieving Together

Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award

At Broughton High School, we are delighted to offer our pupils the opportunity to embark on the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award. This prestigious programme is designed to inspire and transform the lives of young people through volunteering, physical activities, life skills, and expeditions. It is a fantastic way to build confidence, develop resilience, and foster a sense of accomplishment. We encourage all eligible pupils to seize this opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and make lasting memories.

What is the DofE?

Any young person can do their DofE. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.

In Year 10 pupils will be offered the opportunity to start their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award by Mr Lowe, who will be their DofE leader.

What is involved?

There are four main sections of a DofE Award: Physical, Skills, Volunteering and the Expedition section.

  • Physical - You need to choose any sport, dance or fitness activity.
  • Volunteering - Give your time to do something meaningful, motivated by making a difference rather than making money.
  • Skills - Choose an activity that will allow you to prove you have broadened your understanding and increased your expertise.
  • Expedition - This will be organised by Mr Lowe, there will be two practice walks before embarking on a self-reliant expedition!
