Mathematics Challenge at Lancaster University School of Mathematics

This week, two teams from Broughton were invited to Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSoM) on London Road to take part in a Mathematics Challenge competition.  All pupils represented the school exceptionally well. The Year 7 and 8 team performed admirably, finishing comfortably in the middle of a competitive field.  The Year 9 and 10 team made a steady start, sitting mid-table after three rounds. However, an outstanding performance in the final round, scoring an impressive 48 out of 60, propelled them to the top of the leaderboard. They were crowned 2026 champions, finishing 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals. Congratulations to all pupils involved, you were a credit to Broughton.
