Year 8 Rounders – Broughton Crowned Preston Champions!
On Wednesday, 24th June, it was the turn of the Year 8 rounders team to compete in the annual Preston rounders tournament at Archbishop Temple. The scorching heat didn't seem to bother the Broughton girls, who won all three group matches against Our Lady's, Longridge and Ashton, to finish as group winners. Broughton then faced Archbishop Temple in the semi-final, which they won convincingly by 4.5 rounders to 1, managing to bowl the whole team out in 13 balls. Broughton faced Our Lady's again in the final, and after losing the toss, they batted first. Some excellent catches from Our Lady's limited Broughton to 3 rounders, however Broughton went on to demonstrate some absolutely excellent fielding skills and went on to win the game 3 rounders to 1.5. A huge well done to all the girls, it was a real team effort and they thoroughly deserved to be crowned Preston Champions. We now hold this title for both Year 10 and Year 8, with Year 7 competing in their tournament next Wednesday.
